-

Police yesterday (Thursday) confirmed that the body of John Scott – who had been missing from Denny – had been found.

The 37-year-old’s body was discovered within Bellahouston Park, Glasgow, at around 2.30pm on Wednesday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and that a report would be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Mr Scott recently moved to the Denny area having lived previously in Glenboig.

He was last seen alive leaving the Royal Infirmary in Glasgow at about 12.30pm on November 20.

Inquiries led officers to believe that he left in his grey Hyundai i20 car, however his destination was unknown.

John also had links to the Pollok area of Glasgow and officers attempting to trace him conducted investigations both there and in the Denny area.

Police were concerned for his safety at the time and issued a public appeal for information that might help to discover his whereabouts.

Sergeant Greig McOustra, Police Scotland, confirmed that John’s body had been found.

He said:“Our thoughts are with John’s family and friends at this time and we will continue to provide them with all the necessary support they may require.”

He also praised everyone who had helped the police during their hunt to try to find John.

He added:“I would like to thank all of those who assisted with this investigation by coming forward with information and sharing our appeal online.”
