Worries over A85 flooding

-

Concerns have been raised over flooding on a major route at Lochearnhead.

The A85 through the village has been prone to flooding because of broken drains.

It’s understood Transport Scotland has agreed to install new drainage along the A85 to alleviate the problem and it’s hoped the work will be carried out by April 2019.

Trossachs and Teith Tory councillor, Martin Earl said: “This has been a problem for some time.

“There have been numerous discussions with Transport Scotland and I’m aware that they are planning works along this whole section of the A85 to address the drainage and resulting flooding. A CCTV survey is going to be done imminently and the work is expected to be completed by the end of the financial year.”

Stirling SNP MSP, Bruce Crawford added: “This is understandably very concerning for residents and road users, and from what I’ve seen, the scale of the issue is considerable.”

Mr Crawford has also written to Scottish Water and Transport Scotland.

Transport Scotland had not responded to our request for comment at the time of print.

A Stirling nightclub bouncer had to have screws inserted in his jaw after it was broken by a thug passing the venue.

Alexander Paterson, or Logan, admitted assaulting John Patrick Savage, at the Fubar on January 14 this year to his severe injury and permanent impairment.

Stirling Sheriff Court heard on Wednesday that Logan had fractured Mr Savage’s jaw with a single punch.

As a result, Mr Savage had to to have screws inserted into his jaw and attend numerous hospital appointments.

On Wednesday his agent Virgil Crawford explained that 31-yearold Logan, of Cowane Street, had been out that evening with his partner.

While under the influence of alcohol he walked past the Fubar in Maxwell Place.

Mr Crawford said that a steward, Mr Savage, with whom Logan had previously worked, made a comment to him.

At that point, according to the report prepared for the court, Logan accepted he struck Mr Savage with a single blow.
