Ice princesses thrill spectators at gala

-

Active Stirling held its annual Skate UK Mini Christmas Gala recently at The PEAK ice rink.

Audiences were delighted as more than 200 young skaters aged five-17 years from Active Stirling’s Learn to Skate and Skate Star programmes performed festive-themed routines on the ice.

The skaters had been practicing for the galas in the weeks leading up to the show, piecing together routines that showcased the skills they have developed during their lessons. The galas also featured guest performances from competitive level skaters, some of whom started their journey in Active Stirling’s Learn to Skate programme.

Guest skater performances included nine year-olds Morgan Pollard and Marnie McColl in a duet; Robynnne Hendrix (11), Brodie Sneddon (13), Kitty Houston (14), Layla Tuveri (15) and Joanne Turnbull (15).

The gala also included performances from some of Active Stirling’s own skating coaches Kendall Cairns and Rebecca Hutchison and senior ladies competitor Rowena Mackessack-Leitch.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for the Skate UK and Skate Star members to show off the skills they’ve learned over the last year,” said Rhiannon Scott, Active Stirling Skating Co-ordinator and coach, “It also gives them an opportunity to see what can be achieved if they remain in the sport with the performances from our guest skaters.

“The atmosphere is always really lively at our Mini Christmas galas, so it’s a great way to end the year”
