Parking meters could go up in Riverside’s residential streets

-

Stirling Council has announced proposals to extend the city’s‘controlled parking zone’into Riverside.

If it goes ahead, it means pay and display meters will be introduced to a number of streets in the city centre area.

Residents will require permits for the right to park.

In leaflets issued to residents in Riverside, council officials say : “As part of our consultation and engagement last year regarding parking in Stirling city’s controlled parking zone - the zone in the city where on-street parking is controlled - we undertook a public consultation and drop-in sessions and commissioned an independent parking survey.”

The leaflet goes on:“One of the parking issues highlighted through the process was displaced parking, for example car users parking in certain residential areas all day to then access the town or their work places.”

It was in order to address this issue that it is proposed to extend the current car parking zone to a number of Riverside streets. Officials are seeking comments from the public on the proposal.

Proposed restrictions apply to Forth Street, from its junction with Forth Crescent to junction with Edward Road; Edward

Road from Forth Street junction to James Street junction; James Street, from Edward Road junction to Roseberry Terrace junction; Roseberry Terrace, from James Street junction to Forth Street junction, and Ronald Place, from Roseberry Terrace junction to junction with Forth Crescent.

Restrictions are likely to apply Monday to Saturday, 8.45am to 5.30pm.

Drivers will be able to leave their cars for up to four hours but with no return within two hours.
