Youth dance showcase in Stirling

-

Three Forth Valley youth dance groups have been selected to perform at a national youth dance showcase in Stirling next month.

Monument Dance Centre and Macrobert Youth Dance Company, both Stirling, and Central Scotland Ballet School, Falkirk, are three of 13 youth dance groups from across the country selected to perform alongside the National Youth Dance Company of Scotland at a celebration of young dance talent.

YDance Destinations is an annual showcase of the best youth dance companies from across Scotland.

The event, this year to be held at Macrobert Arts Centre, Stirling on Saturday, March 2, brings together national youth dance talent for an evening of diverse performances.

The 13 groups taking part were carefully selected by YDance (Scottish Youth Dance) – the award-winning national dance organisation for children and young people in Scotland – through an application process after the company was inundated with submissions from talented groups.

Those chosen come from all over Scotland, including Dundee, Skye and Aberdeen.

Choreographer and group leader at Monument Dance Centre, Fiona Skene, said:“These young dancers are all curious and enthusiastic about the world of dance, and they will really benefit from seeing and dancing alongside other talented, passionate young people on stage.”

YDance has also partnered with industry body One Dance UK to offer two groups from Scotland the chance to perform at U.Dance 2019 in London on July 20 to 21, 2019.

Selection of the two Scottish groups will be made at the Destinations performance.
