CALLANDER KIRK

On Sunday the all age morning service is at 11.15am and Time for Silence at 8pm, both in Callander Kirk. Teapot Cafe is open in the kirk hall library on Wednesdays from 10.30am to noon. Offers of help will be much appreciate­d. World Day of Prayer takes place at 2pm on Friday, March 1 in Callander Kirk Hall. All welcome. Next Messy Church is tomorrow (Saturday) from 10.30am12.30pm in the kirk hall and is a chance for families to have fun, relax, explore faith and enjoy a meal together. All welcome. Thursday Club is a senior citizens club who meet in Callander Kirk Hall Library every second Thursday. Next meeting is on February 28 from 2-4pm. There are table games, tea and usually an entertainm­ent of sort. New members welcome.

SWI NEWS

The last meeting was on February 14. St Valentine was absent but there was a very good speaker for the evening. Lynne Philips, Registrar in Balfron, gave a talk on the everyday aspects of her job. Divided into two sections of Births, Marriages and Deaths and the availabili­ty of Genealogy Services and the accessibil­ity in helping to draw up a family tree, Lynne is a very busy lady who enthralled everyone with tails of her dedicated service as local Registrar. Competitio­ns: Chocolate and Vanilla Cake: 1 Elspeth O’Brien; 2 Liz Hay; 3 Isobel Craig. Small black work item: 1 Liz Hay; 2 Morag Mason. The next meeting will be on March 14 when competitio­ns will be knitted teddy from Drymen Show Pattern and jar of named marmalade. All welcome to enjoy a demonstrat­ion of sweet making.

SENIOR CITIZENS ASSOCIATIO­N

On Tuesday, February 19 members met in the Winnock Hotel for the annual high tea. A delicious meal was followed by great entertainm­ent from “The D’Ukes”, a six piece ukulele group with a wide repertoire of music which was enjoyed by all. Thanks to the Winnock Hotel and to the D’Ukes for a lovely evening.

COUNCILLOR’S SURGERY

Councillor Alistair Berrill will be in the village hall on Tuesday, March 5 at 7pm.
