-

A yob threatened to‘burn down’ Stirling homeless accommodation when he was refused entry to the premises.

William Boon, of Woodside Road, admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at Sprinkerse Homeless Unit on August 2 last year.

Stirling Sheriff Court was told on Monday that 28-year-old Boon had tried to enter the unit that day. He had asked to speak to a resident there called Tony.

However, the fiscal depute pointed out that security personnel told Boon that he could not enter the building. Boon said he needed to retrieve items from Tony and the witnesses offered to go to speak to Tony in an effort to retrieve the items. However, Boon became aggressive and threatened to burn the building down.

Boon further admitted charges of thieving booze from B&M in Kerse Road on the same date , and drinking Dragon Soop in Stirling’s Murray Place that day contrary to byelaws.

The fiscal depute pointed out that the value of the drink was £27.98 and the items had been recovered.

Boon’s not guilty plea to a charge of assaulting Kenneth Morrison to his injury at Woodside Road in Stirling on July 18 last year by repeatedly punching him on the head, knocking him to the ground, kicking him on the head and throwing a refuse bin at him while on bail was accepted by the Crown.

His not guilty plea to a charge of failing to comply with an undertaking to appear at court was also accepted by the fiscal depute.

Sheriff Wyllie Robertson deferred sentence on Boon until April 10 for a criminal justice social work report and to call alongside other matters.

Boon was remanded in custody meantime.
