Digging deep for Maggie’s

-

Torwood Garden Centre have raised enough funds to “pay for a day” at Maggie’s Forth Valley.

On average it costs £2,400 a day for Maggie’s Forth Valley to provide the free practical and emotional support that makes a difference to people living with cancer in the area.

As Maggie’s relies almost entirely on voluntary donations, it is support from companies such as Torwood Garden Centre that allows Maggie’s Forth Valley, based in the grounds of Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert, to continue to provide vital support to people living with cancer.

Maggie’s FV fundraising manager Cristina Pouso said: “We are so grateful. Maggie’s Forth Valley relies entirely on voluntary donations to allow us to keep on developing our unique programme of support for people living with cancer and to be able to offer that support to everyone who needs it.”

The garden centre raised a total of £4,029.23 in 2018 by providing opportunities for Maggie’s Forth Valley fundraising volunteers to do a number of bucket collections throughout the year and during the Torwood Reindeer Parade at Christmas. Torwood also has a wishing well and all money from this is added to the annual total.

The day they have picked for their ‘pay for a day’ is the centre’s second birthday, this Friday (March 15).
