Special day jam-packed full of inspiration and fun

-

Carse of Stirling Rotary Club’s annual Kids Day Out was voted a huge success by all who attended and supported the event.

Last Wednesday’s extravaganza at Bridgehaugh was the 24th anniversary of the event and it was the biggest to date with 40 schools represented from across the Stirling, Falkirk and Clackmannanshire districts and more than 650 children with additional needs attending along with their 350 carers.

Everyone enjoyed a day of free food, drink, ice cream, bouncy castles, slides and many other activities. Entertainment came from balloon man Paul Clark, Police Scotland — who had a motorbike, car and dog display from the Dog Section which went down well with everyone, Sandy Taylor of Garden Trains and Nick Nisbet who had large audiences enthralled by their train display.

President Robin Mair showed guest Stirling Provost Christine Simpson around the event and activities and she thoroughly enjoyed seeing the smiles on the children and carers’ faces.

Kids Out convener Eddie Cramb said: “We would like to thank those who helped out on the day including staff from the Prudential, senior pupils from Bannockburn High and of course members, wives, past members and friends of our Rotary Club.

“Thanks must also go to Michael More who supplied the food and barbecues and Highland Spring who donated bottled water. Ashers Ice Cream again supplied hundreds of cones free of charge which were really appreciated by everyone.

“A huge thank you must go to Stirling County RFC for the use of their ground and facilities without which the event would be very hard to run.”

He added: “We would also like to thank Stirling Council for their support along with the following companies and people who sponsored the event — Castleview Ventures, Ogilvie Group, Thomas Tunnock, Manfreds, Delia Muirhead and David from the rugby club.

“Last but by no means least, a special thank you to the people of Stirling who donated to our Santa Sleigh collection in 2018 — part of which was used for the Kids Day Out event.”
