Caley Marts sold 238 cattle comprising of 66 prime Bullocks, heifers and young bulls, 92 OTM cattle and 80 young calves.

Prime bullocks topped at 235p for a Limousin from TH Gray, Balquharra­ge, Lennoxtown to D Campbell and Son, Butcher, Callander and to £1467 for a Limousin from W Dandie and Sons, Learielaw, Broxburn to T Johnston, Butcher, Falkirk. Prime heifers reached 240p for a Lim. from W Dandie and Sons to Robert Alexander, Butcher, Port Glasgow and to £1445 for a Lim. from AS Hay, Mains of Cultmalund­ie, Tibbermore to HA Black and Son, Butcher, Stirling.

Heifers per kg - 232p Learielaw; 228p (x2) Easter Ochtermuth­ill; 225p Meadowend; 222p Brockwoodl­ees (x2) and Mains of Cultmalund­ie. Heifers per head - £1438 (x2) Brockwoodl­ees; £1428 Mains of Cultmalund­ie; £1421 Brockwoodl­ees; £1382 Meadowend.

Also forward were 92 OTM cattle. All classes remained a firm trade throughout. Top price per kg went to W Dandie and Sons for a British Blue reaching 163p. Top price per head went to J Christie, Nether Carse, Gargunnock for a Charolais fetching £1360.

OTM males sold to 180p for a Limousin from J Leiper, Stockbridg­e, Dunblane and to £1230 for the same beast. Dairy cows sold to 148p from J Craig, Carneil, Carnock and to £850 (x2) from T Greer and Sons, Wharlawhil­l, Fossoway and H Harper, Kaimhill, Bridge of Weir.

Other leading prices: Beef OTMs per head - £1250 Nether Carse; £1210 Meadowend; £1180 Learielaw; £1100 Ramoan. Beef OTMs per kg - 158p Meikle Camoquhill; 150p Nether Carse; 147p North Bankhead; 144p Meadowend.

Dairy cows per head - £800 Boclair and Castlehill; £780 North Bankhead; £770 Summerhous­e; £760 High Auchensale. Dairy cows per kg - 122p Castlehill; 121p Kaimhill and Summerhous­e; 117p Kaimhill; 111p North Bankhead.

A larger show of 80 young calves were forward at the fortnightl­y sale. Beef types remained a sound trade, however dairy calves lacking flesh and length were harder to cash.

Topping the sale was a cracking Simmental Heifer calf from W Kerr and Sons, Wester Braco, Plains, fetching £320. Dairy calves sold to £145 for a Norwegian Red from G Reade, Sgriob-Ruadh, Tobermory, Isle of Mull.

Caley Marts sold 962 prime lambs, cast ewes and tups.

Prime lambs (460) averaged 177.5p pkg (-7.8p on the week) selling to 209p for a cracking 43kg Beltex Lamb from D Nicol, Auchtenny, Forgandenn­y and to a top of £100 again for a Beltex weighing
