Clackmannanshire and Dunblane MSP Keith Brown visited horse sanctuary Katie’s Cradle at Bridge of Allan.
The charity, which nurses horses with troubled backgrounds back to health , invited Mr Brown after he had congratulated them for securing £9,982 in National Lottery funding.
Mr Brown, who also donated £75 to the sanctuary, met with two of the volunteers who help run it, Connor Watt and Sharon Taylor. He was joined on the visit by Clackmannanshire Council Leader, Councillor Ellen Forson.
They discussed with the MSP the charity’s plans to involve horses in a therapeutic service for those who might benefit from improving their non-verbal communication skills, such as veterans and those with mental health difficulties.
He also met horses Frankie and Amigo who welcoming him with ‘unbridled enthusiasm’ to the sanctuary.
Mr Brown said: “I was delighted to join Katie’s Cradle to learn about the fantastic work they do rehabilitating horses, offering them a new lease of life.
“I was encouraged to learn of their future plans to extend the therapeutic services involving the horses to those who may particularly benefit from them, including veterans and young people.
“I have no doubt that this would be hugely successful, providing an incredible service who may have significant difficulties communicating, especially if they were lucky enough to meet up with Frankie and Amigo!
“The Lottery money will go some way to supporting these ambitious plans and I wish Katie’s Cradle continued success.
