Unbeaten neighbours share the spoils

MILTON .............................................. 0 CAMBUSBARRON ROVERS ........... 0

The local derby was switched to Bannockburn when Mill Park was declared unplayable with both teams keen to maintain their unbeaten Caledonian League Division 1 records.

A large crowd watched on as Milton started brightest with McWilliams and Hendrie presented with good chances.

There wasn’t a lot of football in the midfield but as befitting a derby between great rivals, tackles were leaving their mark with Prescott (Milton) and De Luca (Rovers) both booked for late tackles.

Rovers did create a few chances late on in the first half which Milton keeper Simpson was equal too.

The second half saw both teams look to make the breakthrough and Simpson was called into action making two great saves.

The turning point in the match for Milton happened midway through the second half when Hendrie broke free and was upended on the edge of the box with the referee deeming the incident a coming together much to the frustration of Milton.

Changes for Milton saw Johnstone and Addison being introduced for Prescott and McWilliams. With Prescott on a booking this was the correct decision because Rovers then had De Luca sent off for a second yellow with 15 minutes to go.

Milton believed they had taken the lead when Harris saw his strike come back off the post and Rodger turn home the rebound only for the referee to deem Rodger offside.

With Rovers down to 10 men, Milton looked to go for the win and threw on another striker with Preston replacing defender Findlay.

The extra firepower didn’t work in Milton’s favour and instead it was the visitors who carved open the best of chances late on but Simpson made two excellent saves to keep the score blank.

On Saturday Premier League side Stenhousemuir are at Bluebellwood in the East of Scotland Amateur Cu. Kick-off 2pm.
