Missed chances cost dear

Bannockburn regretted missed chances as a quality Eastfield side took all three Central Scottish League Premier Division points.

Burn had the better chances in the early stages as Ryan Miller almost robbed the keeper and David Grant created space for himself to shoot.

Chris Ogilvie and David Donaldson spurned other good opportunities, the former having a shot miss at the keeper’s near side and the latter following excellent build up play from Miller and Grant.

Eastfield started to convert their endeavour into plausible goal attempts including a header which was well saved by Adam Young.

Following chances at each end, the visitors took the lead just after the half hour and within minutes they doubled it having seen their runner travel 70 yards before sending over a cross slotted home at the far side.

Ryan Weir replaced the injured Kenny McLellan as the half time whistle approached.

Seconds after the restart Weir snatched at a gilt edged opportunity to open Burn’s account. However, Miller did score on 52 minutes.

With Burn keen to get the equaliser, their game suffered another setback when the Eastfield left back headed home their third.

Miller almost pulled another back but to no avail and Declan Wood replaced Scott Taylor as Burn sought to salvage a point. However in the final minute Eastfield cut through the defence to make it 4-1.

Thanks to Morton and Sullivan for their continued support. On Saturday, Bannockburn host Broomhouse in the second round of the West of Scotland Amateur Cup.
