Two thirds of trains stop at Stirling on time

-

Roughly two-thirds of trains terminating at Stirling are doing so on time, according to new figures.

Data published this week by ScotRail has revealed that, of the 11 trains which terminate at Stirling each day, 64.3 per cent of them are doing so on time.

Using the industry standard public performance measure for punctuality, 86.9 per cent of trains are terminating punctually at Stirling.

PPM measures the percentage of ScotRail trains which are reached their terminus within five minutes of their booked arrival time.

Nationwide, 89.1 per cent of all trains are meeting the PPM standard, news which has been hailed by transport chiefs.

Alex Hynes, managing director of Scotland’s Railway, said:“It is great to see the hard work and dedication of our people paying off.

“Customers have benefited from an extra 36,000 trains arriving on time since the start of the year compared to the same period last year, and that’s no fluke. We’ve been more prepared than ever before this autumn, and everyone across Scotland’s Railway is continuing to work hard to deliver the consistent level of performance our customers expect and deserve.”

However, Stirling MP Stephen Kerr has accused the rail operator of using“covenient figures”to ignore issues arising from“poor service”.

He said:“The bottom line is do passengers feel they are getting a good service. The message I get is that they do not. There are lots of delays, cancellations and overcrowding issues that people face week in, week out.

“No-one doubts the hard work of staff, they never did, but the company has delivered poor service despite that and finding convenient sets of figures to paint a rosy picture while ignoring others is not helping.”
