Young people will join together to create piece of theatre
Stirling district deaf and hearing 12 to 18 years olds will be taking part in a theatre show at the Macrobert this Friday, October 18.
‘Happiness’is a project about well-being and resilience co-created by young people and a professional team of theatre makers.
Produced by Solar Bear, a pioneering theatre company celebrating the creative possibilities of inclusion, it features a mix of deaf and hearing artists working alongside a group of deaf and hearing young people.
Solar Bear will arrive with an unfinished show, a few scenes, stories or videos and work with a group of young people to fill in the gaps, to transform and re-imagine the show.
It starts with a simple question:‘What is happiness?’
Over the course of the week the young people will respond in their own unique way creating scenes, songs, poetry, photography and films.
The project will start rehearsals in Stirling on Monday 14 October with two public performances on Friday October 18.
The times of the shows have yet to be confirmed with the films being screened online at solarbear.org.uk.
Creative director of Solar Bear Jonathan Lloyd said:“Collaborating with young people is vital to how we make and tour our work. We wanted to take risks, to explore a challenging subject in a way shaped by young people’s ideas and experiences. We honestly don’t know what will emerge. But we’re excited to find out.”
