Obnoxious drunk tried to push way into hotel
A drunk Stirling man caused alarm by shouting and swearing and trying to push his way into a city centre hotel.
Hugh Haney, of The Brae, Bannockburn, had repeatedly entered the Friars Wynd Hotel on August 27 this year.
The 47-year-old had tried to engage Chloe Maurice, who was inside the hotel, in conversation before leaving the scene.
However, Haney then tried to re-enter the premises causing Ms Maurice to hold the door from the inside to prevent
Haney, who was shouting and swearing, from entering the hotel.
Haney had admitted a charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner. He pled guilty to a further charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner at an address in St Valery Court in Stirling on June 11 this year by adopting an aggressive attitude and shouting and swearing.
This charge was also aggravated by prejudice relating to disability and sexual orientation.
Haney also admitted a charge of thieving a quantity of food from Sainsbury’s Local off Murray Place in September 9 this year.
When Haney appeared for sentence his lawyer Greig Cunningham told Sheriff Robert Dickson that a criminal justice social work report previously requested by the court was not available. He explained there had been confusion over Haney’s address which had changed from Clackmannan to Bannockburn. A letter had been sent to his previous address. Mr Cunningham said:“It was an administrative error not of his making.”
Sheriff Robert Dickson continued the case until December 4 to obtain the report. Bail was continued meantime.
