Scouting for Girls making tracks to Albert Halls

-

Indie rock band Scouting for Girls are looking forward to playing tracks from their latest album when they’re on stage at Stirling’s Albert Halls on November 15.

The date is part of a tour which coincides with the release of ‘The Trouble With Boys’ last month which dives into their love of uniquely British bands like The Kinks, ELO, Madness and The Beatles.

Their last tour in 2017 marked 10 years since they first released their self-titled debut – a record that went on to become triple platinum and birthed the generationbridging anthems of ‘She’s So Lovely’, ‘Elvis Ain’t Dead’ and ‘Heartbeat’.

Vocalist Roy Stride said every Scouting for Girls tour is special because they only do one every two or three years, adding: “It’s almost like a reunion, getting back together with a load of old friends.”

He recalled that the 2017 tour had a huge age range across the audience “from kids to people who’ve grown up listening to us.”

Roy added: “It was such a lovely feeling. It almost feels like you’re playing to family. It was actually more fun than we’ve ever had before, but I find that with the band. The longer it goes on, the more fun it becomes.”

Friends since they were five, drummer Pete Ellard, bassist Greg Churchouse and Roy have never changed to chase success. Success came to them.

They’ve never followed what others are doing, preferring to focus on themselves and make the music they want to make.

Roy said: “That’s why we still have fun now. The whole point of being in a band was to try and find a way to hang out together as mates.”

He said of the new album: “It’s designed to make people feel good. It’s about remembering to be excited, carefree and in love.

“It’s a very Scouting For

Girls album. Being in a band almost feels like you’ve gone to Neverland. You never have to grow up.”

Tickets are still on sale priced £23 from the Albert Halls box office on 01786 473544 or on stirlingevents.org.
