Revised homes plan for store site
Revised plans have been submitted to turn a former hotel function room in Bridge of Allan into homes.
Planning and listed building applications had been submitted by Cairnleisure and Alastair Heron earlier this year to convert a derelict store at Vecchia Bologna, Mine Road, into three flats.
The site was the former function room and manager’s apartment to the Allanwater Hotel and was said to have been most recently used as a store, having been in a derelict condition for 20 years.
However, the applications appear to have been withdrawn in the last few weeks and this week revised applications submitted, still for two, two bedroom dwellings and a one-bedroom dwelling.
Five objections had been lodged to the original listed building application, with five comments on the planning application including three objections and one letter of support.
Supporting information submitted by the applicant with the new applications stated: “The proposed development will create three dwellings, within a building which currently is in a poor state of repair. The works will ensure the long-term maintenance of the property.
“The entire property has been held in the same ownership for the last 30 years and over this time the owners have examined many avenues as to how to develop this space.
“It is our current view that without the addition of these four new timber windows with sandstone surrounds to match the existing other windows, along with the new patio doors to the bay window any development of this property will be unfeasible and shall leave the building to fall into further disrepair.”
