Bridge of Allan gets festive at switch-on
Musical entertainment, festive stalls and a Santa’s grotto will be on offer at Bridge of Allan’s Christmas fair and lights switch-on this Sunday.
The fair takes place at Bridge of Allan Parish Church from 2pm until 4pm followed by the Christmas lights switch-on ceremony from 4pm at the Provost’s Park.
There will be entertainment from teenage piper Murray McNeish, singer Jennifer Hardie, Stirling University Choir, Stirling Gaelic Choir and members of Stirling and Bridge of Allan Operatic Society.
Youngsters from Monument Dance Centre will also be performing during the day.
Stalls include a diverse range of gifts and crafts made by creatives from the Makers Market, mulled wine and mince pies, a tombola plus a rowing challenge run by Bridge of Allan and Dunblane Rotary Club.
A variety of community groups, including Third
Bridge of Allan Guides and
P7s from Bridge of Allan Primary School, will be fundraising at the event while youngsters will have the chance to visit Santa in his Grotto.
The fair is free and has been organised by Bridge of Allan Community Council – led by community councillor Siobhan Hencher.
She said:“I wanted to organise something to tie in with the annual Friends of Bridge of Allan Christmas Lights switch-on and make it more of a celebration of our town and community.
“We’ve got a great day lined up and it will be wonderful to bring the community together.”
Bridge of Allan traders are also involved with some hosting mini events in their shops including a winetasting session at Woodwinters plus BBQ street food at Jam Jar.
Businesses are also among those sponsoring the Christmas lights which will be switched on around 4.30pm following singing from
SABOS members and poetry .
