BRIDGE OF ALLAN PARISH CHURCH -

Sunday, December 1 is the first Sunday of Advent and there will be a collection for Start Up Stirling of Christmas food, crackers and decoration­s. The service, at 11am, will be conducted by Rev Dan Harper. There will be a creche and Sunday school and coffee fellowship will take place in the Chalmers Hall after the service. Thursday Night Group will be having a musical evening tomorrow (November 28) when they are joined by Callander Chimes at 7.30pm in the Session Room. Guild meets on Tuesday, December 3 at 7.30pm in the Honeyman Hall and the topic for the evening is ‘Christmas’.

ST COLUMBA’S CHURCH

Service of Holy Communion at 11am on Sunday, December 1, when the service will be led by Rev Gary McIntyre. Youth activities, in age appropriat­e groups, will be available for younger people (crèche to teens) and everyone is most welcome. The service is followed by tea and coffee and an opportunit­y for conversati­on and fellowship in the church hall. There will be an extraordin­ary meeting of the church trustees at 7.30pm today (Wednesday) in order to discuss matters pertaining to the proposed union between Allan Park South and St Columba’s churches. Immediatel­y following the service on December 1, there will be a secret ballot of members and adherents only on the basis of union between St Columba’s and Allan Park South churches. The Weekly Coffee Club on Thursdays at 10.30am is a chance to catch up with old friends and new, while enjoying company and a blether. The church office is open Tuesday to Friday 9.30am to noon. HOLY TRINITY EPISCOPAL CHURCH

On Friday, November 29, Holy Communion will take place at 11am and on Sunday, December 1, Holy Communion will be at 8.30am followed by Sung Eucharist at 10.30am for Advent 1. Also on Sunday at 6.30pm there will be an Advent Carol Service. This year’s Advent Study Groups will be reflecting on some of the great Advent Antiphons, featuring some of the Messianic titles which have become associated with Jesus in the Early Church. As in previous years, two groups will be held (Wednesdays at 10.30am on the 4, 11 and 18 December and Thursdays at 8.15pm on 5, 12 and 19 December). Sign-up sheets will be available from next week. The Tots Café meets in the church hall every Monday at 10am. We are looking for a volunteer co-ordinator for Tots Café.
