THE WeekendTicket Panto genie-us with Riverside Drama Club
Riverside Drama Club are staging Aladdin as their panto in the run up to Christmas.
The story of Aladdin is about a young boy. He lives with his mother Widow Twanky (George Steele), sister Wishy (Erica Burnett) and brother Washy (Lesley Allan Fox).
Aladdin (Eilidh Macleod) chances upon Princess Jasmine (Cara Murdoch) and immediately falls in love. Aladdin knows he has no chance with Princess Jasmine as he is just the son of a widowed laundry woman and has no money or status.
Into this story comes Abanazar (Aaron Kirkwood), a wicked sorcerer, who wants to rule the Empire.
He is looking for a Genie in a Lamp, who is so camp (Gordon Baird) to help him but gets the Genie of the Ring instead.
Liz Miller of Riverside Drama Club said: “We’re all looking forward to welcoming you to our humble laundry. You can expect laughter, excitement and a few surprises!”
The story unfolds at the Cowane Centre, Cowane Street, Stirling from Tuesday December 3 at 7.30pm until Sunday December 8 at 2pm. There are two matinees on Saturday December 7 at 12.30pm and 3.30pm. The panto is directed by Mo Wilson assisted by Deborah Douglas. Riverside Drama Club has been running for more than 70 years.
