Fayzan Rehman Liberal Democrat: “This will be the most important election in a generation.
“Only the Liberal Democrats can stop Boris Johnson’s Brexit.
“It will be a disaster for our country. It will cripple the economy, sucking money out of our public services and threaten businesses and jobs right across the UK.
“If he gets a majority, the Brexit chaos would drag on for years to come, with an unresolved Irish border, customs checks at Cairnryan, and over 700 trade deals to be negotiated.
“Liberal Democrat plans are properly costed, and are more progressive than both the Labour and Tory plans in helping the poorest in our society.
“Only the Liberal Democrat plans have passed the scrutiny from the Institute for Fiscal Studies – who said that neither the Tory nor Labour plans are credible.
“By stopping Brexit we can invest the £50 billion pounds Remain Bonus in our public services.
“We are dedicated to transforming mental health services and treating mental health with the same urgency as physical health.
“With extra funding we can provide we propose mental health practitioners for every GP practice, A&E department and police division.
“This can localise treatment for all, providing the help and care people need close to home.
“The climate emergency is destroying our natural environment and threatening our children’s futures.
“The Liberal Democrats will tackle the climate emergency by taking bold action to rapidly reduce carbon emissions as quickly as possible, and achieving net- zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045.
“Our plan includes insulating low income homes to eliminate fuel poverty by 2025 and a massive treeplanting programme, to absorb damaging emissions. Together we can build a brighter future.”
