Special half-century school reunion

-

A special 50-year reunion is being planned in June 2020 for former pupils of The High School of Stirling who joined the school in FirstYear in 1964 and others who joined that year group subsequently.

It was the era of rock‘n’roll, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Man landed on the moon and miniskirts, platform shoes and tie-dye shirts were all the rage.

The times they were a changing for the teenagers who were stepping out into the world outside school.

The organisers of the event - former pupils Betty Hunter (née Gray), Iain Hunter, Norman MacCallum and Rod Turnbull - are looking to reconnect with as many former pupils as possible to help make the reunion a truly memorable occasion.

Betty said:“Fifty years is a lifetime of different experiences. It will be wonderful to catch up with old friends and have the chance to reminisce.”

Norman added:“Unlike other reunions, this half-century milestone is very special. The former pupils will all be in their mid-60s, many retired.”

And Rod Turnbull said:“It’s the perfect opportunity to step back in time and remember the good and the bad old days.”

The reunion will be held at Stirling Court Hotel at Stirling University on Saturday, June 6 and will offer a variety of experiences with the aim of bringing everyone together.

Organisers are appealing to former pupils to contact them now. If you started classes at Stirling High School in 1964 or joined that year group subsequently and left anytime between then and 1970, get in touch either by mobile on 07766 373052 or by emailing shsin2020@gmail.com.
