CCTV to deter troublemakers
CCTV cameras are to be installed in a lane off Callander Main Street in a bid to deter antisocial behaviour.
Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park planners have approved an application by Robbie Muir to install three cameras at Dunella, 117 Main Street.
The property is said to be a one and a half storey, traditional terraced house within the Callander Conservation Area.
In their decision, park planners said:“A lane separates the dwelling from a commercial public house and the entrance to the rear garden of the house is located within the lane. The property is currently used for short term holiday lets.
“It is proposed to install three small scale CCTV cameras at the property to improve security and deter antisocial behaviour.
”Outdoor seating at the pub is immediately adjacent to the rear garden of the property. The purpose of the CCTV is to try to prevent antisocial behaviour taking place and also record any instances of antisocial behaviour that affect the property.
“Cameras will mostly be located in discreet locations and the cameras themselves are of small proportions measuring less then 10 centimetres in diameter.
“There will be no associated signage installed at the camera locations. The camera will be visible on the side elevation and to a lesser degree on the front elevation, however, the visual impact will be minimal due to their size and there will be no adverse impact on the Callander Conservation Area as a whole as result of their installation.”
