Planners agree to holiday ‘pod’
A holiday let ‘pod’ looks set to be created in Gartmore. Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park planners have approved an application by Mrs Catherine Goldie for a change of use to a caravan site of land south of the detached house Glenburn in Jellicoe Avenue.
The site is on the eastern edge of Gartmore on a sloping hill south of the cemetery and accessed through the grounds of the detached house.
In their decision, park planners said: “The proposed pod dimensions and the fact it could be transported in one piece once constructed mean it will fit the legal definition of a caravan. The proposed pod is 8.2 metres long, 3.7 metres wide and 3.1 metres tall with an internal height of 2.3 metres. It would be constructed of a timber frame, have timber cladding and a sedum roof and will be connected to the mains water supply and sewer as well as to electricity.
“There is ample parking available in Glenburn driveway for the one additional parking space that would be required. The addition of one small unit with a maximum occupancy of two persons would not increase the traffic on the residential street to such a level as to be detrimental to amenity.
“Two residential properties, Glenburn and Sealladhmor are located adjacent to the proposed pod. Due to ground levels and the orientation of the proposed pod there would be no impact on the outlook for either dwelling. Due to the distance of the proposal from the residential dwellings and the small size of the proposed site, the pod will not have an adverse impact on neighbouring properties in terms of noise and privacy.”
