Caley Marts sold 2069 prime hoggets, ewes and tups.

All classes of lambs met a similar trade to last week with 1455 hoggets averaging out at 205.4p pkg (+3.1p on the week).

Top price of the day went to Doune Farms, West Lundie for a 48kg Beltex at £120. Top price per kg went to H Miller and Son, Glenhead for a pen of Beltex weighing 41.6kg at 257p pkg.

Blackface ewes however would be £5-£7 cheaper on the week. Heavy ewes averaged £103.30 selling to £160 for an outstandin­g Texel ewe from John More, Townhead, Arnprior. Export ewes averaged £65.04 selling to £79 for Cheviots from WHM Warnock, Gartfinnan, Clackmanna­n. Cast rams sold to a top of £139 for Texels from John More.

UA had a catalogue entry of 37 registered Bluefaced Leicester females at their annual show and sale. Selling to a new centre record of 4500gns for a tremendous ewe hogg from A MacGregor (Allanfauld), a daughter of Carryhouse K1 and out of a Carryhouse dam, she sold to R Raw, Fairview, Lancaster.

Following this was the final gimmer in the ring from J Wight and Sons (Midlock) selling for 1200gns. The powerful gimmer sold carrying triplets to Midlock L27 to M/s Ross, Doune of Glendougla­s.
