Ghost of the Bard appears at Tolbooth

The ghost of Rabbie Burns features in a comedy drama at the Tolbooth on Saturday February 15.

Written by Gillian Duffy, it features the songs and poems of the Bard including‘My Love is Like a Red Red Rose’,‘Ae Fond Kiss’,‘Charlie is my Darlin’and‘Auld Lang Syne.’

It revolves round a character who takes herself away to her aunt’s old cottage in Ayrshire to get over her cheating ex.

As she celebrates Burns night alone wishing that the right man would show up, she gets a visitation slightly different than what she’d hoped for when the ghost of Rabbie Burns appears to give her some dating advice.

Dance music will once again ring out from the grounds of Stirling’s Old Town Jail this May.

Shapes at the Jail, featuring house and disco, will return to the top of the town for its third year on May 9 from 1pm to 11pm.

In recent years 600 music lovers have attended the festival and organisers hope to match that in 2020.

Shapes at the Jail event manager and Stirling DJ Ryan Hamblett said: “The last two Shapes in the Jail events have been great. They sold out both times.

“It’s amazing to be allowed to stage a day event in one of Stirling’s iconic venues.

“Music outdoors in the sun always works. There’s a unique excitement and buzz.

“Shapes at the Jail will bring the worldwide DJing circuit right into the heart of Scotland – giving local DJs a chance to showcase their talent as well as providing bigger name headline acts for the fans.
