Millennials in the spotlight
Millennial life is explored in a new production from awardwinning writer and director Drew Taylor-Wilson at the Macrobert on Saturday, February 8 at 7.30pm.
‘Thick Skin, Elastic Heart’ is a colourful and exciting fusion of spoken word theatre as four diverse performers weave their stories together.
Playing out like an idle scroll through a social media feed, which unexpectedly tugs at the heartstrings, a selection of contemporary topics crash together as the performance puts younger voices to the front, in all of their oversharing glory.
However ‘Thick Skin, Elastic Heart’ will appeal to all ages as it explores the minutiae of life, the delicacy of human interaction and the search for hope.
Performed by the punchy and diverse cast of Cameron Fulton, Danielle Jam, Robert Elkin and Charlotte Driessler, this poetic theatre production encapsulates exactly what it means to be a millennial living in modern Britain showcasing a kaleidoscope of voices from across the UK.
As if Under Milk Wood (Dylan Thomas) had been filtered through the lens of Instagram, this poetically comedic show explores issues such as miscarriages, porn addiction and the endless consequence of self-imposed high expectations, screened through constant digital communication.
Tickets for the show are on sale now from Macrobert Arts Centre priced £13.50, £11.50 for concessions and £6.50 for students – in person, by calling 01786 466 666 or online at macrobertartscentre.org.
