More eco-friendly plans look set to replace existing permission to build a house in Strathyre.

Mr and Mrs John and Lorna Munroe are seeking permission from Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park planners to build a house and detached garage on a plot at

Keip Road.

The proposal for a low energy house would substitute an already approved design.

In details submitted with the application, agents for the applicants said: “Finished in timber cladding, the house will be more settled within the heavily wooded village, and the design is far more in keeping with the national park setting.

“The proposal is for a low energy one-and-a-half storey, two bedroom house. The house is long and thin with a 45 degree roof pitch .

“Every aspect of the house, from each stage of construction and build, through to the use and future potential has to be carefully considered resulting in an efficient, warm, dry, light filled and beautifully practical building that will fit in to its environment whilst minimising the impact on the wider environment.

“The house has been tucked into the site to retain the feeling of open space while providing a close backdrop of trees, minimising the visual impact.”

“We believe this proposal would be a welcome addition to the surrounding community. It would further represent the best in modern, sustainable practices.”

Park planners are expected to make a recommendation in due course.
