Caley Marts sold 196 cattle comprising 88 bullocks, heifers and young bulls, 77 OTM cattle and 31 young calves and stirks.

Prime bullocks reached 238p pkg for a Limousin from D Dickinson, Brockwoodl­ees, Canonbie purchased by T Johnston, Butcher, Falkirk and to £1435 for a Limousin from W Dandie and Sons, Learielaw again purchased by T Johnston.

Prime heifers reached 235p pkg for a Limousin from DS and RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuth­ill, Muthill purchased by HA Black and Sons, Butcher, Stirling and to £1494 for the same animal.

OTM cattle averaged 134p per kg selling to 172p per kg from GS Stewart, Wester Whin, Slamannan and to £1280 from JH and NT Turnbull, Meadowend,

Clackmanna­n. Dairy cows averaged 96p per kg selling to 120p per kg from WA Hume and Co, Easter Clune, Dunfermlin­e and to £980 from the same home.

Also forward were 31 calves and stirks. All class of calves were in demand, with plenty buyers looking for calves.

Top price of the day went to Goldenlea Farmers, Gryffewrae­s, Bridge of Weir for a three month old Aberdeen Angus Bullock calf at £310.

Caley Marts had forward 308 store cattle and 660 store and breeding sheep at their fortnightl­y sale.

Bullocks averaged 214p pkg selling to 273p pkg for a pen of Limousins from A McDowall and Son, Mid Ervie, Kirkcolm and to £1160 for a pen of Charolais from E Robertson, Skeoch, East Kilbride.

Heifers averaged 205p pkg selling to 227p pkg for an outstandin­g pen of Limousins from W and T Nelson, High Kilphin, Ballantrae and to £1090 for a Charolais from E Robertson.

Black and Whites sold to 183p pkg from DT Marshall, West Kirkland, Newton Stewart and to £930 from the same home.

Caley Marts sold 1413 prime hoggets, ewes and tups.

Considerin­g the weather and road conditions, a good show of sheep forward met the best trade this season with 1101 hoggets selling to £122 for a 58kg Beltex from WM Bell and Son, Craigend, with the sale average of 222p pkg (+17p on the week) selling to 279p pkg also from Mr Bell for a 43kg Beltex X hogget. Heavy hoggets (354) at 45.5kg-plus averaged £106.65 (+£8.73).

Export ewes averaged £66.35 selling to £84 for a Blackface from IDW Bonn and Partners, The Nurseries, Middlebank. Cast rams sold to a top of £141 for a BFL from D Rock, Knock O Ronald, Gargunnock.
