Elliot is on Broadway

A former student of Stirling’s Stageworx School of Performing Arts has landed a role on Broadway.

Elliot Greer, pictured, son of Stageworx director David Greer, is to play the lead role of Guy in‘Once’ the musical in NewYork.

The 27-year-old trained with Stageworx from the age of five to 17 before securing a scholarshi­p in the US.

Former Stirling High School pupil Elliot said:“More than 150 actors auditioned for the role of Guy. It was an intense period but I’m truly over the moon on securing the role.”

Elliot has also performed roles in Miss Saigon, Held Momentaril­y and Edward II, as well as writing songs with singer songwriter Byron Isaacs.

His dad David said this week:“We’re absolutely delighted that he has secured this‘Once’in a lifetime role.”

“Elliot has worked extremely hard to forge out a career in one of the toughest cities imaginable, but hard work is truly beginning to pay off.

“It’s great that Stirling has a young local lad making good in NYC and shows Stageworx are one of the leading providers of musical theatre in central Scotland.”

•Stirling performing arts school Stageworx will hold an informatio­n day and workshop on Wednesday, February 5.

The event takes place between 5.30pm and 8.30pm at their premises in Millhall.

Stageworx, set up 21 years ago, offers a variety of courses including an full time HND in Musical Theatre.

Director David Greer, who has performed in musicals in London’s West End said:“We do this via a wide range of fun- based and vocational performing arts courses from age three upwards.

“We do not audition students for our part-time classes, but believe it is more important how they leave Stageworx with a skill base and confidence to be the best they can.”

He added:“Stageworx has a class for everyone. If you’re looking for a college to provide the blend of profession­al techniques and performanc­e-based skills plus opportunit­ies to stand out from the crowd, contact us.”

At the open day there will be and opportunit­y to meet profesiona­l tutors and take part in classes. Registrati­on for the event is required.
