Four in the race for League 2 play-offs

-

Cove Rangers, Edinburgh City and Cowdenbeath are looking good to occupy the first three places in League 2 but four clubs are separated by just two points in the race for the final play-off spot.

Elgin City (4th): Played 22, Points 28 Prospects: Have never been promoted since joining the SFL in 2000 but moved into the top four with victory at Forthbank on Saturday. Have one of the best players in League 2 in Shane Sutherland while Kane Hester also provides a goal threat. Away to bottom club Brechin City this weekend.

Annan Athletic (5th) : P 22, Pts 27 Prospects: Have hit poor form in recent weeks, losing six of their last seven games. Only bottom club Brechin City have conceded more goals in League 2 this season and their impressive home record has also slipped since the turn of the year. Had to cope with the loss of several big players in the summer.

Stirling Albion (6th): P 21, Pts 26 Prospects: Have recovered well from a nightmare start and have been excellent away from home in recent months but have now lost four on the trot at Forthbank. Have the best defensive record in the division but are still the lowest scorers despite a marked improvement in the attacking third of late.

Queen’s Park (7th): P 21, Pts 26

Have taken seven points out of nine since Ray McKinnon replaced Mark Roberts as manager at the start of the month. They recently announced that they were giving up their amateur status and more new signings are expected. Come to Forthbank for a big game on February 8.
