STRATHENDRICK ............ 14 KILMARNOCK .................. 22

After a hard fought win last week against Cambuslang, Endrick hosted league leaders Kilmarnock in what was a tight encounter.

West Division 1 has proven to be one of the most competitive leagues in Scottish Rugby, where any team on its day can win and Endrick, currently sitting thirrd from bottom started the game with vigour and attacking flair.

They were stunned, however, when the Kilmarnock No 12 scored an interception try under the posts from his own 22 and converted it.

The home side immediately hit back with an unconverted try by Calum Robertson.

Kilmarnock were on the defensive for much of the first half and coughed up two penalties in Kyle Campbell’s kicking range, both of which he landed, while the visitors kicked one to leave the Fintry side leading 11-10 at the break.

The second half saw some brave defence from Strathendrick. And pressure finally told when Kilmarnock’s No 13 scored under the posts, with the conversion giving them the lead by 17-11.

Endrick were keen to keep the scores close to gain at least a bonus point and Campbell kicked another penalty to reduce the leeway.

They fought hard to keep Killie at bay but anogther late try gave them a 22-14 win.

Man of the match fior Endrick was Calum Robertson and their next match is on Saturday, February 15 away to Allan Glens.

● The seconds dominated Clydebank to win 45-10 and remain in second palce in West Reserve League Division 3.

They mustered one of their strongest sides this season and stunned their visitors with three tries in the first 15 minutes.

In the second half one of the Clydebank was injured so Strathendrick lent them former president Dave Beaumont. This changed the game and Clydebank held off the Endrick attack for a period of 10-15 minutes.

But it was one way traffic for most of the game with Endrick ending the game victors 45-10 despite a last minute consolation try from Clydebank.
