The public are being urged to drop in and give their views on the introduction of a pair of new cycle routes through Stirling.

One of the proposed routes would go between Stirling station and the university, while the other will link the city centre with Forth Valley College.

It’s all part of the‘Walk, Cycle, Live’initiative being run between the council, Transport Scotland and Sustrans.

A launch event for the scheme took place in November to formally kick off consultation over the plans and a drop-in session showing off the plans has now been arranged for the Cowane Centre in Stirling at the end of the month.

The session, which will allow anyone interested in or affected by the plans to comment on the concept design, will take place at the centre on Cowane Street between 1.30pm and 6.30pm on February 26.

A plan for the route to the university will take in Goosecroft Road and Causewayhead Road, before heading up Airthrey Road to the campus.

The second route heading for the college will take cyclists from the city centre via Upper Craigs, Dumbarton Road and along the A811 Raploch Road and A84 Millennium Way to the Castleview park and ride and college campus.

After launching the scheme, a council spokesperson told the Observer that the aim of the scheme was improve the conditions for people travelling on foot and bike around the city, with other benefits including reducing traffic congestion and improving general air quality in the area.

The organisers of the drop-in are urging people to come for a chat over a cup of tea or coffee, but for those who are unable to make it and wish to look over the plans can view the drawings online at https:// walkcyclelivestirling. commonplace.is/.
