Aberdeen-Angus

Top of the Aberdeen-Angus lots at 25,000gn went to the trustees of the late Gordon R Brooke, Upper Huntlywood Farm, Earlston for their bull Gordon Barney. He was sold to Forfar breeder G Fraser, Newton of Idvies.

Next best at 17,000gn was from the Allen family at Humbleheug­h, Alnwick. Stouphill Marcus Prince sold to K McCoscar, Island Farm, Cookstown, Northern Ireland.

In all 82 Aberdeen-Angus bulls sold to a top of 25,000gn and averaging £5820, slightly down on the year by £67 with a clearance of 60 per cent. Meanwhile, Aberdeen-Angus females averaged at £2307 for 15 sold to a top price of 3100gn.

Beef Shorthorn

A top price of 20,000gn was fetched in the Beef Shorthorn sale ring on Monday morning. The first was the overall champion, Coxhill Magnum, from Mrs LJ Townsend, Coxhill Farm, Moffat.

He sold to Thistledow­n Cowford Farms in Perthshire. The second at the same price was bought by Thomas Staunton, Lough Curra, Co Galway. This was the reserve intermedia­te champion Rookwith Marvellous, from the Page Farms Partnershi­p, Rookwith House Farm, North Yorkshire.

Next best was 11,000gn was Glenisla Macleod from Major JPO Gibb’s herd at Glenisla House, Blairgowri­e selling to Balgay Farms, Inchture, Perthshire.

A second at 11,000gn was bought by Gates Farming, Rosemore Manor, Cold Overton, Leicesters­hire. This was Meonside Mufasa from D&T Bradley Farmer, Wester Parkgate Farm, Dumfries.

In all 53 Beef Shorthorn bulls sold to an average of £4780, up £104 on the year with a clearance rate of 61 per cent. In the female ring, eight sold to average £2690 with a top price of 4600gn.

Limousin

In total 56 Limousin bulls were sold to average £4862, up £262 on the year, to a top price of 13,500gn with a clearance of 77 per cent.

The sale topper at 13,500gn was the reserve senior champion, Dyke Olympian, from the MacGregors of Dyke Farm, Milton of Campsie, Glasgow. He goes to Biggar with J&A Galloway Ltd of Lochlyoch Farm.

Next best at 10,000gn was the reserve junior bull, Newhouse Oriental, from the Addam family, Newhouse of Glamis in Forfar and bought by Cloquhat Farms, Bridge of Cally, Blairgowri­e.

Lincoln Red

Two Lincoln Red bulls sold to average £6563, up £262 on the year. The sale topper of 7500gn was bid by South Ormsby Park Ltd, South Ormsby Hall for St Fort Xcel from breeders A Mylius & Partners of St Fort, St Fort Estate, Newport-on-Tay.
