Doune land another win on their travels

-

KILSYTH ....................................... 3 DOUNE CASTLE ......................... 5

Doune followed up their 6-2 win at Cambusbarron last Saturday with another victory on the road - and another three points.

Their 5-3 success at Kilsyth was more convincing than the scoreline suggests as an unwelcome combination of missed chances and defensive carelessness meant the home side remained in the contest till the final whistle.

Castle opened the scoring in six minutes when Lukasz Duszynski stabbed home from close range.

But against the run of play, Kilsyth drew level after 19 minutes with a shot from 25 yards which beat Callum Davison low to his right.

Doune made it 2-1 on 32 minutes when goalscorer Duszynski turned provider as he cut the ball back to Christopher Macdonald who brought the ball under control then stroked a lovely finish into the right-hand corner.

Robbie Hurst made it 3-1 four minutes later. Alan Inglis sent Hurst through one-on-one with the keeper and he calmly dinked the ball over him and followed up to make sure the ball nestled into the corner.

In the second half, Kilsyth reduced the deficit with a goal in the 58th minute. They attacked down the Castle left and curled the ball towards the back post and astonishingly, the ball eluded everyone and ended in the net at the back post for 3-2.

Doune recovered quickly and edged further ahead on 64 minutes. Inglis sent Hurst clear on goal with the deftest of touches and he calmly rounded the advancing keeper before turning the ball home for 4-2.

Inglis almost made it five with a powerful dipping volley from all of 40 yards which the Kilsyth keeper touched over the bar with a brilliant stop.

Castle, however, were not to be denied and sealed the win with a fifth goal after 75 minutes.

Duszynski was brought down in the box for a clear penalty and he took the kick himself, sending the keeper the wrong way to make it 5-2.

To their credit, Kilsyth continued to battle, pulling a goal back after 81 minutes but Doune refused to panic and they held on to record another important away win in the league.

Doune Castle: Davison, Macfarlane, McClure, Duncanson, D Innes, Gibson, Wilbert (Kneal), Hurst, Inglis (A Innes), Macdonald (Marshall), Duszynski Substitute: Docherty.
