Burn see off dogged Campsie side with three points

CAMPSIE MINERVA .................. 2 BANNOCKBURN ....................... 3

A dark, windy and sodden pitch were all at play as Bannockburn banked three points against a dogged Campsie side.

David Donaldson had an early snap shot go over the bar before Darren Walker bagged the opener with his placed shot from a Kenneth McLellan lay-off.

Sadly however, Burn could only hold the lead for six minutes as Minerva hit back.

It was a half of rough and tumble till some quality play gave Chris Ogilvie the space to run in on goal, square it to Steven Knox who couldn’t quite convert.

Then on half-time Ogilvie fired a free kick just wide keeping the honours even at the break.

The second half saw some challenging tackling including an early tackle on Ogilvie that many saw as a straight red had the ref seenit.

Ryan Weir and the Campsie centre half then entered the book after their contretemps and Donaldson was booked for simulation in what might have been a penalty.

Just after the hour a bullet header by Darren Walker put

Burn in the lead following an exquisite cross from Weir

It was 3-1 shortly after. A good period of keeping the ball gave way to a sublime Weir chip and low cross which Knox dummied for Ogilvie to slot home at the back post.

Jack Ogilvie came on for Donaldson and looked sharp, lively and direct and with 10 minutes to go Declan Wood and Dom McGrandles came on for

Knox and Ryan Miller.

A long throw saw Burn keeper Young flapping and Campsie reducing the deficit but Burn saw the game out to secure three points.

The club would like to thank Stirling Albion for donating two new balls to the club.

Next game for Bannockburn is at home to Greenock HSFP on Saturday.
