WESTERLANDS ....................................... 1 CAMBUSBARRON ROVERS .................. 3

Before the weather worsened on Saturday, Rovers won three vital league points in Glasgow against their bogey team, who had won the two previous meetings between the sides this season.

Cambusbarron started brightly and forced a couple of corners before Chris Hendry headed home the opener.

They dominated the first 20 minutes was all the Rovers, Gianni De Luca had a shot blocked, Hendry and Callum

McLaren then both had shots that flew just wide. Then a fine run down the wing by Chris Todd ended with a great cross for Hendry to extend the visitors’lead.

McLaren came close again with an overhead kick but the home side then came into the match and their left winger had a good header which flashed past the far post.

Westerlands did reduce the deficit on 27 minutes when a free kick found their front man who turned and his shot squeezed in at the near post. Two mins later Todd had a great header which came back off the post with the keeper beaten but Westerlands finished the half the better of the two teams and goalkeeper Greg McGuinness had to make two good saves to maintain the lead at half time.

Rovers started well in the second half but the first real chance fell to the home side when they had a shot which went narrowly past but they seldom looked like adding to their total from then on and the Rovers had the better chances. Hendry had two good chances and Todd also forced a good save from the home keeper before a free kick by Owen Smith in the 71st minute was missed by everyone and went into the bottom corner of the net.

Just after this Hendry broke through and rounded the keeper but lost his footing and he shot past an open goal and five minute from the end Adam Hamilton had an effort which came back off the post but the Rovers saw the game out to secure the points.

On Saturday the Rovers are at home to Rothesay Brandane. Kick off is 2pm on the 4G at Stirling High School.
