Fantastic foursome are record breakers

semi-finalists in the ladies over 35s were from Bridge of Allan which really underlines the depth of quality we have at the club right now in the ladies game.

“To beat Sheena Logan, who has just returned to the court after having her third child late last year, was really special as we are good friends and have shared the ladies team captaincy at BofA over the last couple of years.”

Over-50 supremo Andy Meldrum was also delighted at retaining his championship as he took a massive step towards selection for the Scotland over-50 side at the home internationals at the end of the season.

Andy, who beat Linlithgow’s Craig Mitchell in four high-quality sets, said: “To successfully defend any title is massively pleasing and with this being my home Masters it means that bit more.

“All credit to Craig who was a tricky opponent and I was just glad to get the job done and hopefully close in on a home international call up.”

Over-45 champ Roddy Campbell was also delighted to be acclaimed a Master and keen to thank BofA club president Walter McAllister, who once again organised a seamless tournament with his championship committee of Ian Douglas and Allison Penman.

Roddy said: “First I must thank Walter and his tournament committee for organising another fantastic championship. I play most of the Masters tourneys and without doubt the Central Masters at Minewood is the best run of the lot and is so year after year.

“On a personal note I’m just delighted to claim my first Masters title on my home boards, it doesn’t get any better than that.”
