Scottish international Katherine Fowler just missed out on the medals in the girls’ under 17 event.

The 15 year-old from Callander was in her first pentathlon since making her Scotland debut in November and her debut in the under 17 age group.

She started well with a personal best 8.01m in the shot putt. In the 60m hurdles she looked to be heading for another pbt before she clipped a hurdle, but held her stride to finish in a decent 9.60s.

There was joy for her in the long jump she leapt over the five-metre mark for the first time ever jumping a pb 5.03m.

And there was further success for her in the high jump where she jumped to another pb 1.54m to put her within sight of the medals.

However she was tired by the 800m and finished with 2:41.58 which gave her fifth place overall, She still managed to set a pb of 2977 points.

Molly Cornes opened well with 8.56m in the shot, set a new pb 9.91 in the 60m hurdles then jumped a respectable 4.90m at long jump.

In her strongest high jump event she was back on form and went clear at a season’s best 1.57m. Molly finished with 2:47.82 in the 800m for a score of 2884 points and 10th place overall.

Ellen Montgomery came close to pbs with 7.52m at shot, 10.68s in the 60m hurdles, 4.24m at long jump and 2:56.85 at 800m for a score of 1717 points and 22nd place.
