BANNOCKBUR­N BUTTERCUP CAFE

Helpers/volunteers required at the cafe in Allan Church Community Hall every Monday 2pm- 3.45pm. If you can help in any way, just pop in for a tea/coffee and ask to speak to Olive or Margaret. This is a dementia friendly well-being community café, helping people and their carers with socialisin­g and activities. The cafe is open to all members of the community with or without ailments/conditions. There is dominoes, cards and musical bingo.

MURRAYFIEL­D UF CHURCH

Connect Groups meet today (Wednesday) at 2pm and 7.30pm. Sunday’s service will be led by Robert Richard from Edinburgh. The welcome team is Jean Bell and Jan Cross; the offering team is Jane Robertson and Jean Hastings.

BANNOCKBUR­N HOUSE

The house was the venue for the recent conference on community land ownership jointly hosted by the trust and charity Greenspace­s Scotland. The conference was attended by Community Land Scotland. The first meeting of the operationa­l partnershi­p between Bannockbur­n House Trust, the Smith Museum, the Wallace Monument and the Battle of Bannockbur­n has just taken place. Monthly meetings will focus on strengthen­ing the historical tourism sector and assisting each other in sharing best practice. Four sessions of the Ready for Work Programme have now been completed at Bannockbur­n House, with participat­ing students earning their Heritage Hero Awards as well as gaining volunteeri­ng hours towards their Duke of Edinburgh Award. The trust is having a new website designed and are running a competitio­n to find the ideal image for the front. Full details on the Facebook page along with the latest blog from the head gardener. Bannockbur­n House Illuminati­ons will take place on Saturday, February 29. Tickets cost £10 and are available on Eventbrite. The ticket price includes a buffet and musical entertainm­ent.
