Charities come for conference

-

Autism provision pupils at St Modan’s High School have been enjoying history trips in recent weeks.

Visits to the Wallace Monument and Edinburgh Castle were made possible by the team at Stirling’s historic tower and also Historic Environment Scotland who provided tickets for the castle excursion.

A conference for the region’s charitable sector is set to visit Stirling in May.

It’s the third year that the Forth Valley Third Sector Conference will be held and is being organised by the Stirlingshire Voluntary Enterprise (SVE), along with their counterparts from Falkirk and Clackmannanshire.

Delegates representing the Forth Valley will come together for the event - which has the theme “Investing in Your Place: People, Place, Participation” - for a day of networking, workshops, discussions and speeches.

The workshops on the day will be delivered by SCVO, Volunteer Scotland, HMRC and other organisations related to the sector, while the keynote speech will be delivered by the

Communities and Local Government Minister, Aileen Campbell.

The conference will be held at the Robertson’s Trust Barracks Conference Centre in Stirling on May 12, with tickets available at an early bird rate of £15 or the regular rate of £18.

Natalie Masterson, chief officer at Stirlingshire Voluntary Enterprise, said: “As the Scottish Government continues to move forward with the Place Principle, it’s great to see Aileen Campbell and leaders from both the public and third sectors join us at our conference in May.

“Our hope is that the conference will allow organisations to come together to start conversations about current issues facing the third sector both locally and nationally.”
