LET’S MAKE IT SIX OF THE BEST Binos target six away wins in a row as they travel to Brechin City

Stirling Albion are hopefully back on the road again this weekend when they travel to Glebe Park to play Brechin City after two postponements in four days.

The Binos were due to host Stenhousemuir on Saturday but that match fell victim to a waterlogged pitch and has been rearranged for Tuesday, March 3. Last night’s meeting with leaders Cove Rangers was also called off following a lunchtime inspection.

Kevin Rutkiewicz’s men beat Cowdenbeath 4-1 at Central Park in their last outing on February 15 and are chasing a sixth successive away win when they head for Brechin. Mark Wilson’s team play Queen’s Park tonight (Wednesday) and are eight points adrift at the foot of the table despite earning a 0-0 draw at Edinburgh City on Saturday.

Rutkiewicz (pictured), who saw his team draw 1-1 at Glebe Park in October and slump 4-2 at Forthbank in December, are currently three points outside the play-offs. He said: “Brechin are a team we have not managed to beat this season. We should definitely have won up there but we deserved nothing from the game at Forthbank – they played with more intensity and were the better team.

“I don’t think Brechin have seen how good we are so hopefully the boys will show their true selves. That’s the challenge I will be putting to the players because it will be a hard game – with each passing week Brechin know they have to start picking up results soon.

“They got a fantastic point at Edinburgh and they will be looking at playing us as a chance to get more points on the board, but we know a victory would set us up very nicely for what is inevitably going to be a very busy period.”

He added: “The boys seem to be thriving away from home but I don’t think there is any real reason for it. It’s not a tactical thing – we are not doing anything differently – and it’s fine lines in terms of the results at home. If we can correct that home form going into the last part of the season I’ll be a happy man.”

The local derby against Stenhousemuir on Saturday might have been postponed but there was no day off for the players or the manager.

Rutkiewicz added: “We were in training at Livingston at 9.30am on Saturday because we had looked at the park and knew there was a high chance of it being off and we had contacted Stenhousemuir on that basis.

“We had a good session with the mindset of getting the team prepared for the Cove game. I was also down at Annan v Albion Rovers as we play both of them next month, so that was useful.”
