Cafe support is served up

-

Plans for Tullibody’s revamped community centre have had a further boost after funding was received to employ a staff member at the site.

Tullibody Community Development Trust have been awarded the financial backing of £3,000 from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust to bring in a part-time catering assistant for the centre’s new cafe, with support from volunteers and trainees.

Currently, volunteers look after the entire running of the community centre, from bookings to health and safety compliance.

The cafe is only operational when the hall is hosting a function at the moment, but the trust hope to set up a community cafe to provide healthy food options and a place for locals to socialise.

It’s the latest piece of good news for the trust, after they found out earlier this month that they were to receive support from the Scottish Land Fund to purchase the building outright from Clackmannanshire Council.

Janette McGowan, chair of TCDT, said:“We would like to thank the Coalfields Regeneration Trust for their ongoing support.

“It’s great to be able to employ a catering assistant to make the café in the community centre more accessible to everyone, and provide somewhere for people to socialise and eat affordable, healthy food.”

Nicky Wilson, chair of CRT trustees in Scotland, said: “We are more than happy to provide funding for a catering assistant for such an excellent facility as the community centre’s recently refurbished café.”
