Gartmore’s Forest Theatre Company are to stage a performance of the Stephen Sondheim musical ‘Into the Woods’ between March 11 to 14.

Directed by Rosie Lang, the musical relates some familiar fairytales – Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel – all intertwined.

The cast is a mix of adults and children who have been working on the production since August last year.

The music, from a band of local musicians, contains haunting melodies.

The Forest Theatre Company has members from Gartmore, Aberfoyle, Drymen and as far as Dunblane and Glasgow.

Rebecca Fleming, who plays the part of the baker, said: “Finding parts for all the children who want to be involved is a difficult task, but our very able director Vicky GlasseDavies has a wonderfully creative way of involving everyone.

“She gets to the heart of every character and each scene is packed with detail and emotion.

“We have had great help this year from recent Gartmore ‘returnee’, Alex Paton, who has used her vision as a professional visual effects producer to great effect in our set design and creation of a wood, cow, baker’s shop and more.”
