Tartan triumph as kilted posties deliver cheer
Stirling team inspires national effort
Posties and other Royal Mail workers in Stirling have inspired their counterparts across the country to get into the swing by wearing a kilt to work.
The local team are very much at the forefront of keeping people supplied and informed during the coronavirus crisis.
But they still took the time recently to pay tribute to NHS heroes on the frontline and boost morale, as well as raise a smile with customers across the area.
The staff at the Royal Mail’s Stirling depot at Springkerse held a ‘wear a kilt (or anything tartan) to work’ day at the delivery office to raise spirits and show their appreciation for NHS workers.
Now Royal Mail workers across Scotland are planning to follow suit tomorrow (Thursday) by taking up the idea.
Delivery office manager Mal Aien said: “The idea was to spread some positivity across the Stirling delivery area we serve daily during the coronavirus shutdown and to also thank the staff for their efforts during this difficult time.
“Postman David Harris and Mark Turner raised the idea of ‘wear your kilt to work day’ which we thought was a great opportunity to help brighten up the streets and give management the opportunity to thank staff for their ongoing efforts and keep spirits high.
“The staff have had a lot of public responses thanking them for the job they’re doing which is a great and I think they just wanted to lighten the mood a little bit.
“They’re fully engaged with what they’re doing. It’s a risky job but they’re fully on board serving the Stirling community. At the current time when life is uncertain and full of negativity and worry, I’m extremely proud of my delivery office staff efforts to raise a smile in the community whilst still delivering a key service to everyone. They are great ambassadors for Royal Mail.’’
