Windfall for charity after Observer story
A big-hearted group of women who have dedicated their time to help feed vulnerable people have been given a cash boost – by an organisation who read about their efforts in the Stirling Observer.
Cairn Housing Association were motivated to help the group after we told how they are making and delivering soup to those forced indoors across the Bannockburn area.
Some of the association’s tenants who live at Devlin Court in Whins of Milton have benefited from their kindness.
A spokesman from the housing association said:“We loved hearing about the Ladies of the Rock who have been delivering hot nutritious meals to our community of older tenants at Devlin Court, many of whom are self-isolating because of the coronavirus.
“The Stirling Observer story inspired us to provide a £500 grant to the Ladies of the Rock, which will help out with their catering equipment and volunteer expenses so they can continue to provide their important service.
“We are reaching out to community groups who are supporting our tenants to see if we can help them with their work.
“We are incredibly grateful to how people within the community are rallying around to help others during this crisis, and delighted we could provide some financial support so our tenants will continue to benefit from their kindness.”
Ladies of the Rock volunteer Fran Nicol previously said:“This has been possibly one of the most overwhelming and frightening times that we have all experienced as a community.
“But we remain hopeful, and as such we will continue to deliver smiles through our hot soups, and food and grocery parcels, to residents who require them.”
