All cast cows met an increase in demand with well fleshed meaty types being keenly sought after. Half meat feeding type cows saw an increase in buyers from all over UK. All feeding cows are seeing premium prices by selling through the live ring.

Prime bullocks sold to 238p pkg for a Limousin again from Nethermyre­s purchased by Buffalo Farm Ltd, Kirkcaldy and to £1564 for a Limousin from Rathillet Farm, Cupar, Fife purchased by HA Black.

Heifers averaged 212p pkg selling to 244p pkg for a pen of Limousin from C Dick, Taylorton, Stirling and to £1190 for a Limousin from D Reid, Middlerigg, Falkirk. Black and Whites sold to 170p pkg from J McLean, Kilmaho, Campbeltow­n.

Caley Marts sold 937 spring lambs, prime hoggets, ewes and tups.

Spring lambs (43) sold to a top of £130 for a Beltex X from RA Campbell and Son, Meikle Seggie and to 295p pkg for the same lamb. Overall average for the lambs was 261.5p (+30.6p pkg on the week).

Also forward were 195 cast ewes and rams. Mixed show sold to a full compliment of buyers and more could have been sold to sellers’ advantage.

Heavy ewes averaged £105.48 and sold to £160 for a Texel ewe from A MacGregor, Allanfauld, Kilsyth. Export ewes averaged £69.13 selling to £74 for a pen of Blackface ewes from A MacGregor, Allanfauld, Kilsyth. Cast rams sold to £108 for a Texel from R McNee, Woodend, Armadale.
