Waste rules lifted at re-opened tips
Temporary restrictions on waste types and vans/ trailers have been lifted at Polmaise and Callander recycling centres.
Residents can now deposit all normal household waste, including glass and bulky items, while drivers of commercially liveried vans and trailers will also be allowed on-site to deposit residential household waste from their own property.
The move comes after both Polmaise and Callander were temporarily reopened on June 1 after a slight easing of lockdown restrictions.
The council said that “after careful consideration”it was now in a position to reopen all waste streams at both tips, and introduce weekend operating hours.
A spokesperson added that re-opening arrangements for Balfron recycling centre were currently being reviewed, with a further announcement to be made“in due course”.
Traffic management remains in place at both
Polmaise and Callander to ensure a flow of vehicles and social distancing.
Environment and housing convener Councillor Jim Thomson said:“We have seen a large number of daily visitors at both sites since their partial reopening on June 1, and, thanks to robust traffic management and the efforts of our staff, along with the responsible behaviour of local householders, things have been running smoothly.
“I want to thank residents for their patience as well while we worked to reinstate all waste streams at both centres as soon as we possibly could.”
Polmaise will be open: Monday-Sunday 9am to 4pm (last entry into the queue)
Callander will be open: Monday-Friday 5pm to 7.30pm (last entry into the queue) and Saturday 10am to 1.30pm (last entry into the queue).
