DAVID HAS AN EYE FOR A PLAYER
Binos appoint Peat to head of scouting role
Stirling Albion have appointed David Peat to the role of head of scouting at Forthbank.
Peat (pictured) further bolsters Kevin Rutkiewicz’s backroom team for the 2020/21 season following the recent arrival of Bill Orr as head of performance analysis. He previously worked at Blackpool and Dundee United, as well as Dutch side Willem II.
Rutkiewicz said: “There are many moving parts behind the scenes at football clubs but none more important than the recruitment of the best footballers available to us. In David, we have a very driven and hungry person who has already provided us targets and information which just wasn’t there before.
“David is an experienced scout and will use his eye to not only unearth the talents of tomorrow but to give us detailed information on the opposition.”
Peat said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be able to take on the position of head of scouting. After speaking with Kevin, and listening to his plans for the future, it was clear this would be an exciting challenge.
“We have already been working hard ahead of next season, which is something we will be doing continuously throughout the summer. I have experience in both academy and first-team recruitment, as well as opposition analysis.
“This is a great club with a loyal fan base and I’m excited to be part of what is happening here.”
Meanwhile, the SPFL have confirmed that league reconstruction talks are over and the current format of 12-10-10-10 will remain for 2020/21.
Clubs had been asked to indicate if they would be willing to adopt a 14-10-10-10 structure, which would have prevented the relegation of Hearts, Partick Thistle and Stranraer and seen Kelty Hearts and Brora Rangers admitted to the SPFL.
However, only 16 of the 42 clubs were in favour – well short of the required number.
The Premiership is due to start on August 1 and Championship clubs have agreed a shorter campaign kicking off on October 17. Discussions regarding arrangements for Leagues One and Two remain ongoing.
Stirling Albion will donate all the money raised from their Donate-A-Ticket Scottish Cup semi-final to The Gambinos – the Gambian football side with whom the club has close ties.
The club have already donated to Start Up Stirling and Strathcarron Hospice in earlier rounds and will now support their friends in Africa, with 100 per cent of the money raised going to help villagers in Mandinari, Gambia.
